Although this watercolor differs in some of the details and is brighter in color, it is basically the same composition as the darker and much larger canvas on the same subject in Act V, Scene iii, of Romeo and Juliet. Montague and Capulet, standing over the bodies of their children, shake hands and pledge to end their old feud.
