Admissions - Applications
Required materials for application to the English Ph.D. program are as follows:
Students must apply online by December 3, 2012. Please do not mail hard copies of materials submitted online unless requested by the department. The new online application will be available sometime in September 2011. Further information may be found on the Graduate School's application page.
This year, the Laney Graduate School will provide an early application fee waiver for all submissions that are submitted on or before October 31, 2011. This fee waiver will be provided automatically, and no extra steps need be taken to receive it.
After October 31st, the application fee will be $75.

- Application for Admission.
- Statement of Purpose.
- Three, and no more than three, letters of recommendation.
- Official general GRE scores. The subject test score is not required. To facilitate processing of applications, please submit your GRE student copy while the department waits for the official version.
- Electronic copies of official transcript(s). Admitted students will be required to send hard copies to the department at a later date.
- A single academic writing sample of 15 to 20 pages.
- CV or resume.
